The front of the card shows an anchor picture that the sound the letter(s) makes. 

The back of the card shows three key words that contain the sound made by the letter(s).

SUGGESTED GAMES:

Diphthong Dash: Spread out the diphthong flashcards from your Phonics Discovery Deck face up on a table. Players take turns choosing a card and saying as many words they can think of  that contains the diphthong on the card. For example, if a player flips over the "oi" card, they might say "coin" or "boil." Players earn points for each correct word pronounced.

Glued Sounds Scavenger Hunt: Hide glued sounds flashcards around the room or outdoors. Give players a list of pictures that depict words that contain glued sounds, and challenge them to find the corresponding flashcards. As they locate each card, they must pronounce the glued sound and use it in a word to claim their discovery.

Vowel Team Voyage: Divide players into two teams. You will randomly select a card without showing the teams. Read the words on the back of the card. Each team takes turns guessing the vowel team heard in those words. If a team correctly identifies the correct vowel team, they earn a point. The team with the most points at the end wins the voyage!

R-Controlled Vowel Guessing Game: One player selects a r-controlled vowel flashcard without revealing it to the others. They then provide descriptive clues about a word containing the glued sound (e.g., "It's what you call a sharp tooth that a wolf or vampire uses to bite."). The other players take turns guessing the word. The player who correctly guesses the word earns a point and gets to provide the clues for the next round. The player with the most points after a set number of rounds wins!
